What is Phishing?

Phishing is a type of attack that attempts to steal sensitive information by misleading individuals into giving away their personal data. This data can include passwords, bank accounts, 2FA codes, private wallet keys, and other confidential information. Criminals use various tactics to carry out phishing attacks, including sending fake emails or text messages claiming to be from official sources, creating fake websites, developing counterfeit apps, impersonating official staff on social media, and posting false event links on social media.

Phishing App Incident

An attacker uploaded a fake app named "Bit.com" on Google Play, attempting to deceive users into downloading and installing it. Users should be cautious and screen apps carefully, as counterfeit apps may install malicious backdoors, monitor device activity, and steal personal information. To avoid financial losses, it is recommended to download the official app from BIT's official website (www.bit.com) or official channels like Google Play or App Store.

Prevention tips:

  1. Download the official app through BIT's official website (www.bit.com) or official channels like Google Play or App Store.

  2. When downloading and installing an app in the form of APK, verify the hash of the downloaded file to see if it matches the hash provided by the official source.

  3. When downloading and installing an app from an app store, look for the official app name "BIT". Confirm the app by checking its download count, developer contact information, app id (com.matrixport.bit), and other details to avoid downloading counterfeit apps.
