What is a Passkey?
Updated this week

To enhance security and convenience, we are introducing a new feature—Passkey! A passkey is a passwordless login method designed to replace traditional passwords and provide a more secure and user-friendly experience.

Note:

  • Currently, only the iOS version of the BIT App supports passkeys. Support for Android and Web versions is coming soon.

  • Passkeys are temporarily limited to withdrawal security verification.

  • The original "Secure Device" feature on the Web version has been merged into "Passkey," and previously linked "secure devices" will no longer be supported.

What is a Passkey?

Fast Identity Online (FIDO) passkeys are used for two-factor authentication, enabling a password-free, verification-code-free login experience. They provide the strongest account security based on global standards and support synchronization across multiple devices. Users simply select a device with a configured passkey and complete verification using fingerprint, face recognition, or device password. Learn more about FIDO: https://fidoalliance.org/fido2/

Advantages of a Passkey

  1. More secure:
Passkeys leverage public-private key mechanisms, eliminating risks of password leaks or authentication breaches, and offer protection against phishing and function injection attacks.

  2. More convenient:
Users can complete security verification without entering passwords or codes—simply use biometric verification on a configured device.

  3. Better experience:
Passkeys can sync across multiple devices, enabling seamless passwordless login anytime, anywhere, simplifying processes, and enhancing user experience.

How to use a Passkey?

  1. Enable Passkey
Go to "Profile - Security Center - Authentication Method - Passkey" in the app to enable the passkey feature.

  2. Verify with Passkey
If a passkey is bound to your account, it will be prioritized for verification during withdrawals.
If the passkey verification fails, traditional verification methods are still available.
